Our Mission

BOY SKIN's mission is to democratize skincare knowledge. We aspire to cut through the labels, the noise, and the marketing fluff to help any skincare beginner easily find products that actually work. The solution is not another generic brand—but an informed, expert-backed way of navigating the thousands of products already available.

BOY SKIN's focus is to keep things simple. We're creating a one-stop-shop knowledge center, product directory, and community of everyone who wants access to better skincare.

Founder's Story

Our founder, Young, spent years researching, reading, consulting dermatologists, and spending time and money on the wrong skincare products. It was a wild, multi-year goose chase of misinformation and illusory promises—spending thousands on products that made his skin worse, not better.

Finally, he found the right cocktail of prescriptions and at-home skincare. However, an unbiased source like BOY SKIN would have made his life a lot easier in the beginning. It's not that guys don't want to look their best—most of the time, they don't know where to start. That's why he started BOY SKIN as a curation engine to fill the gap.

How We Work

How a skincare product goes from shelf to BOY SKIN-approved and officially part of your routine.

How a skincare product goes from shelf to BOY SKIN-approved and officially part of your routine.

01

Product Review & Discovery

Product Review

We delve deep into evaluating each product's comedogenic (pore-clogging) scores, key ingredients, ingredient concentration, compatible skin types, overall cosmetic elegance, and aggregate historical performance. Each product is hand-picked, manually reviewed, and thoroughly verified by a neutral cosmetic chemist consultants for accuracy.

02

Building Our Knowledge Base

The Algorithm

We've built a proprietary knowledge system that goes beyond generic product lists. Our database includes product intelligence/formulation analysis, ingredient synergies, safety/sensitivity guidelines, basic routine architecture, and more.

03

Personalized Decisionmaking

Personalization

Our quiz collects your skin type, concern areas, budget, and ideal routine length. Our AI retrieves product data across a variety of characteristics and uses a sophisticated AI retrieval and matching system to create a functionally complete skincare routine. Everyone's skin is different, and some trial and error is normal—but our system is designed to make that process a whole lot easier.

FAQ'S

FAQ'S

What makes BOY SKIN different?

Our products are chemist-reviewed, not dermatologist-reviewed. Why? Dermatologists treat skin conditions, but they're not all necessarily formulation experts. We put a ton of manual effort into analyzing the formulas of any product we recommend and how it would factor into routines for different skin types.

We're beginner-friendly by design. That’s why, we focus on simple routines where every product works well together. And because we're not a brand, we have zero interest in pushing specific products. Plus, unlike other apps, we don't lock basic routine recommendations behind a paywall.

Is BOY SKIN a dermatological service?

No, we're not! BOY SKIN is not a substitute for professional dermatological or medical advice. We specialize in over-the-counter skincare recommendations. Not everyone has access to dermatologists, and not all dermatologists have the time to recommend at-home skincare products for each patient. However, it’s still important to make informed and reliable product decisions.

Why the focus on “BOY” skin?

Honestly, men's skin isn't all that different. While men's skin tends to be slightly oilier on average, skin type varies more between individuals than between genders. We mostly built our platform around guys because there's a massive education gap. Skincare marketing tend to treat men as an afterthought or push overpriced "for men" products that aren't actually different.

Our platform works for anyone, regardless of gender. We recommend products across men's, women's, and unisex lines based purely on function and your individual skin needs.

What types of products do you recommend?

Currently, we have the basic face skincare categories like cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreen, serums, and actives... We would love to eventually expand our product library to include more spot treatments and bodycare! However, we're not expanding our product library just for the sake of volume. Every recommendation is specifically vetted and approved by us.

How does BOY SKIN monetize?

We believe in making basic personal care information accessible! While some of our recommended products have affiliate links, we tailor our affiliate programs around our recommendations, not vice versa. Our recommendations are 100% objective. If there is a demand for it, we hope to add a premium subscription for users who want more advanced functionalities, but our core personalized routine builder will stay free.
